Diya project - Fund Raiser on Oct. 28th , 2012

Please read the details about Diya project from the teacher coordinator. I encourage all of you to donate and participate in the activity. Please bring cash and hand it to the teacher in the classroom.


 We will be continuing with the tradition that we started last year with the Diya service project. Attached with this mail are the designs that the art teachers have come up with for this year.
The kids will be making the Diyas on Oct 28th from 11.30 a.m to 12.30 p.m. All classes will follow their regular schedule until 11.20 a.m after which they will be working on the Diyas. All kids need to assemble either at the cafetaria or at the upper gum by 11.20 a.m
The youth has a slightly different schedule .They will be working on their Diyas from 10.15 - 11.15 a.m.
 Here's the outline of the plan:
  •  Group K and 1 will be assembling in the cafetaria.  They will be decorating pre made diyas.
  •  Groups 2-7  will be assembling in the upper gym.  They will be making two of the three designs that our art teachers have come up with.
  • Y1-Y4  will be doing it in their respective classrooms from 10.15 - 11.15 a.m.
  • Art teachers will be present to guide the kids with the project.
  • All teachers, youth teachers, youth assistants will be helping their respective class kids with the project.
  • Groups K-7 will need to go back to their classrooms after their project is done. Dismissal will be from the classrooms.
        All donations  will need to be collected by the class teachers  ..Suggested donation of 10$ per child or $20 per family. 
  • This year in addition to a local charity, part of the proceeds will also go to gifting vision charity in India "(
     Teacher expectations:
  •     Please share the information on your class website and in any emails that you will send to your class.
  • Please get any extra tarps/old tablecloths that you have.
  •  Send an email to your class asking for any parent volunteers to help with the project --especially the younger would  need at least 4-5 parents per class.
Let us know if you have any questions. We plan on having a short conference call next week to go over the finer details- Will shoot a seperate email on the date/time.
